JCA LINGAYEN – A JOURNEY WITH GOD

The vision of this school was given by God to Bishop Jonathan and Ptra. Vicky Sebastian sometime in 1988. The vision caught the heart of Ptra. Elma S. Honrado, our school OIC together with our Sunday school teacher Sis Angeline Casipit during that time. At first they started with a kindergarten class in our JCSGO chapel in Tonton under a chico tree. Most of the pupils were attending Sunday school. Sis Roselily Medina Absalon became the first teacher of the school. When the church transferred to Artacho in 1989 the vision of the school fired up, and with the commitment of Sis Myrna Reyes and Sis Salome Nicolas, the school started to offer preschool and grades 1-3, and it was called the “Little Lamb”.
The school stopped for several years because of some circumstances, but God’s purpose and vision for this school never ended. God had touched the heart of our dear JCA- Lingayen president and Region 1 Overseer Rev. Luis G. Honrado Jr. to have our own church building. The whole congregation of JCSGO Lingayen was moved by the Holy Spirit to support this God-given vision. We are blessed by God to have our own lot for the church building in Almazan St., Libsong West. The transfer of the JCSGO Church to Almazan led Ptra. Elma S. Honrado to start reviving the school.
In June 1998, Mrs. Amor F. Celestino volunteered to teach our Nursery class. With 3 pupils in a simple classroom surrounded by old and used dividers and equipped with a heart to minister, Mrs. Celestino went on. On the second year of JCA, 7 pupils enrolled. On its third year the preschoolers doubled its enrollees. With travailing prayers and declaration of God’s word to JCA Lingayen school, the enrollees increased to 25 pupils on the fifth year and started to accept grade schoolers in grade one. This was also the time when Mrs. Amor F. Celestino had to move out of the school because she was called already to teach in the public school. In spite of that, Ptra. Elma never gave up but instead kept on praying for dedicated teachers to be with her in fulfilling the vision of the school. Since this JCA is a church school we are very grateful to Ptr. Luis for the full support he has shown since the start of the school. The facilities of the school are improved every school year. From a simple classroom, God has blessed us with 10 air-condition rooms and other facilities such as the Science Laboratory, Industrial Room, EPP classroom, school garden area and playground. Each year we pray and plan for strategies to win more students and we never fail to see great results. Yearly grade levels were added, from the 6th year to its 8th year we had grades 2 to grades 6. Last year we had 98 students and this year school year 2008-2009 we had an 80 percent increase in population.
JCA is now adopting the curriculum of our mother school in Quezon City designed for the best education of our kids. Because of that, JCA Lingayen has been recognized as the fastest growing Christian school in Lingayen, Pangasinan. In our pursuit towards excellence, God blessed us with 14 dedicated, talented, innovative, competitive and God-fearing teachers, a very motherly and loving principal and a protective and caring pastor/president.
In the event of our Graduation 2009, we are very proud of our 31 Nursery, 18 Kindergarten and 19 Preparatory graduates, in addition to our 8 elementary graduates. We have not only imparted knowledge to them, but ourselves and Jesus in their hearts. This is our history but this is just the first. Pages may run out of colors and memories may become blurry but the kids, our kids, and the way they live their lives will forever make JCA alive. And as I write this, more is yet to come with God’s grace and blessing.
